The automakers and their design departments are always on a pursuit. Even if the company has a brand-new model, fresh from the line, there’s still a need to find something new and exciting or to reinvent the existing vehicles.
Of course, the growing markets dictate this rhythm, and carmakers must follow the trends, and stay competitive. Besides, we all witnessing the blooming of the all-electric and plug-in hybrid models. Admittedly, that’s the future of the industry. Many of the major companies shift their focus to these types of vehicles.
One of them is the famous Bentley. The British manufacturer will introduce its first-ever EV in a couple of years. Recently, the company revealed the Bentley Centanne Concept. The designer Joseph Robinson indeed come up with something unique and eye-catching.
This concept model sits on an electric platform with in-hub electric motors while utilizes an impressive modular design, with several different cabins that can be installed. The range includes everything from a crossover cabin, a coupe, and a Shooting Brake style cabin. Therefore, for fans of fishing or hunting, one of these will be perfect, and it will fit the needs of the customers.
Bentley Centanne Concept Design
As you can see from the photos, the Bentley Centanne Concept includes an attractive rear cabin, which supports a C-shaped rear bench. Also, a rear-end can be open up, transforming the backside of the vehicle into a cozy, relaxing place. Moreover, in the front half of the cabin, you can see more conventional front-facing seats. But that’s not all.
The Centanne concept features a sophisticated front grille, with a massive number 8. Besides, there are LED headlights, taillights, and a set of large wheels. Last year, the British manufacturer announced that they are planning to release the first EV by 2025. But, there is no official confirmation that the upcoming vehicle will adopt the Cenntanne concept ideas. Who knows, maybe we see the Shooting Brake style EV after all.
Which of the Bentley’s EVs Will Come First?
Well, the Bentley Centanne Concept looks fantastic. But, which model will the automaker introduce first? One of the solutions is that the debutant will carry the Mulliner moniker. In that case, the EV might come with a low range, but the price might be irrationally high.
According to the company’s representative, there have been requests for an R-Type Continental-like vehicle, but a fully-electric version. Of course, Bentley could produce an electric version of a high-performance four-seater. However, is the production of that kind of vehicle profitable for the company?
The second option could be the last-year revealed concept – EXP 100 GT Concept. The GT packs four electric motors, which produce a total output of 1,340 hp and 1,100 lb-ft of torque. With that amount of power, the EXP 100 GT goes from 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 186 mph. Besides, this model will include new battery tech, and it is expected that the battery will charge up to 80% will be 15 minutes.
The EXP 100 GT should provide a driving range of around 435 miles (700 km), and the EV will weight approximately 4,200 lbs (1,900 kg). Bentley become carbon neutral in factory operations. Now, the main goal is to be the first fully carbon-neutral brand in the luxury class. The British automaker is highly interested in the production of the electric vehicle. We will see one of their concepts by the mid-2020s.
