The all-new 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge is a model, similar to the XC40 Recharge variant. However, the C40 version comes with a lower roofline. On the other hand, both models are using the same 402-horsepower all-electric powertrain. Even the dimensions are almost the same. Basically, it is a reshaped version of the XC40 Recharge model.
The C40 model offers an electric powertrain exclusively, so there will be no gasoline engines as in the XC40 model. It is a brand’s first vehicle designed exclusively as an electric model. 2022 C40 Recharge Design
The upcoming 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge is clearly based on the XC40 Recharge model. The resemblance is strong and quite visible. We can say the C40 model looks like a fastback variant of the XC40 model. According to Volvo, the C40 version will feature a completely new rear section. On top of that, the C40 model will arrive with a lower roofline. This is a good thing as Volvo clearly decided to separate its models, unlike some other manufacturers such as BMW.
The dimensions are almost the same and both models are using the same CMA architecture. Lower height will result in slightly smaller headroom and cargo capacity. However, the C40 model looks very sharp and modern. A new lighting system is available and it comes with a recognizable “Thor’s Hammer” design.
Minimalistic Interior Design
The interior of the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge will be the first brand’s interior without leather materials. The cabin looks very minimalistic and it comes with a digital touchscreen. On top of that, there is a digital instrument cluster on the dashboard as well. Volvo will offer an infotainment system based on the Android Auto and it comes with over-the-air updates.
This also means the infotainment comes with the built-in Google apps, which is a good thing in our opinion. Comfort is great and even the cabin room is generous. While it shares a couple of similarities with the XC40 variant, we think this interior is unique and impressive.
Driving Range, Charging
As for the performances, the new 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge will arrive with an electric motor on each axle. Like in the XC40 model, this one will also generate up to 408 horsepower. The Swedish manufacturer offers a 78 kWh battery that will provide around 208 miles, which is lower than we expected.
The battery supports fast-charging and you can charge this model from 0 to 80 percent in 40 minutes. The same battery can be found in the Polestar 2 model. As we said, C40 and XC40 are using the same CMA platform, so sharing the powertrain comes as no surprise. Lastly, this model will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.6 seconds.
2022 Volvo C40 Recharge Price, Release Date
Interestingly, but the brand-new 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge will sell online. It is something Volvo planned to do for years and the pandemic seems to be a good opportunity for online sales. The C40 model comes in a single trim level that costs below $60,000, according to some reports. The sales will begin in the United States, most likely in the last quarter of 2021.
