New 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 will probably go on sale later next year. It is another brand’s zero-emission vehicle. After the ID.3 hatchback, VW is now delivering an all-electric crossover called ID.4. Based on the concept, ID.4 model will arrive in ID.4 X and ID.4 Crozz forms. This crossover will ride on flexible MEB platform, and it will be shorter than Tesla Model Y.
While we are waiting for more specific details, the crossover will look very modern. The interior will also look modern, and it will offer plenty of high-tech amenities. The sales will start in China, while its launch date in the US is still a mystery.

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Design
The upcoming 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 will become the first ID member that will go on sale in the U.S. For that reason, the German manufacturer will have to deliver a very competitive design. However, the design will look unique and modern as the ID.4 model will also reach Europe and China. And just like the ID.3, ID.4 crossover will ride on a very flexible modular electric platform (MEB).
According to various reports, the crossover will be 180.8 inches long and 72.9 inches wide. Moreover, ID.4 is 64 inches tall. To compare, Tesla Model Y is 187 inches long. We hope Volkswagen won’t deliver a design that departs from the original concept.
Interior Offer Plenty of Soft Touch Surfaces
Just like any other MEB models, the latest 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 crossover will also arrive with a longer wheelbase. Thanks to that, the crossover will offer plenty of interior room. Interior details are not available yet, but some things are already familiar. The ID.4 will arrive with a fully digital cockpit. That means the crossover will offer plenty of touch surfaces, voice controls and larger touchscreens.
Volkswagen didn’t say anything about possible trim levels. However, the base trim level will be called “S”. On top of that, VW will provide the SE and SEL trims. On the other hand, the manufacturer will surely deliver a new trim level that will become the range-topping variant.

2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Engine Details
The ID.3 hatchback arrived in three different battery sizes and single electric motor option. From what we know, the ID Crozz concept is promising 302 horsepower with a dual-motor setup. The batteries will provide around 300 miles of all-electric range. However, this electric range will be reserved for one of the range-topping models.
The all-wheel-drive system could be offered as standard, but the more likely outcome is a single-motor configuration with a standard rear-wheel-drive setup. The rear electric motor should generate around 200 horses, and the front one will produce 100 hp. The MEB platform will allow fast charging, and ID.4 will recover 80% of charge in half an hour, using a 150-kilowatt DC charger.

Price and Release Date
As we said, the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 will go on sale in China. After that, this model will reach European and American soil. The price will start at around $35,000 for the base S trim level. The SE version costs $40,000 and SEL trim level around $45,000. Volkswagen will build a new model in Tennessee, where it already produced Passat and Atlas models.
