The forthcoming 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime is a plug-in hybrid compact crossover. This model is known for its impressive electric driving range and astonishing fuel efficiency. Generally, RAV4 is a well-known model but Prime is taking the performances to the next level. Since the 2021MY was the brand-new model, the 2022 RAV4 Prime will be a carryover. Toyota will only provide minor updates, perhaps a new trim level or new exterior colors.
However, exterior and interior design will remain intact. The Prime variant already offers a lot of high-tech amenities, so the new model will most likely gain an updated infotainment system and nothing else. The sales will begin later this year, and here’s everything you need to know about this exciting crossover SUV.
2022 RAV4 Prime Exterior Design
The 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime will carry on with the same design as the outgoing model. As we said, the RAV4 Prime is almost a brand-new crossover, so cosmetic upgrades won’t happen anytime soon. It is one of the sharpest-looking models in the segment and the Prime variant won’t drastically depart from the base RAV4 model.
As we said, a new trim level could be in the works, as this crossover currently offers only two trim levels. The base SE trim comes with regular stuff, such as a lower front spoiler, 18-inch wheels, and numerous piano-black accents. On the other hand, the XSE version is more premium. It comes with two-tone exterior paints, a black roof, larger 19-inch wheels, and LED headlights.
Interior Updates
Unlike the standard model, the new 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime comes with more standard equipment. The Prime variant will also provide numerous optional packages, such as Weather & Moonroof package. This package comes with a heated steering wheel, heated/ventilated seats, and logically the moonroof. As we said, there are only two trim levels at the moment.
The XSE variant is the upper trim with paddle shifters, synthetic leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and a larger 9-inch display. New RAV4 Prime could introduce slightly more safety aids, but we don’t expect major interior updates to happen anytime soon.
Acceleration, Driving Range
The all-new 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime continues to offer the same plug-in hybrid engine. It is a well-known 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit with 175 hp. Toyota pairs this engine with a pair of electric motors, one on each axle. Thanks to that Prime model generates up to 302 horsepower and it comes with a standard AWD system.
This hybrid crossover sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Moreover, a 16-kWh battery pack is in use and it delivers 39 miles of all-electric range, which is great. The Prime also provides 38 mpg combined and 94 MPGe.
2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Release Date, Price
The price of the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime will start at almost $40,000. New trim level is still just a rumor, but we hope to see a new entry-variant with a more affordable price. This plug-in hybrid crossover SUV will hit the dealerships by the end of 2021.
