The upcoming 2022 Range Rover will offer a compelling mix of luxury and ruggedness, and an all-new platform that is under development. The redesigned Rover will debut in 2022, and it will ride on the innovative MLA architecture.
The platform is designed to hold the internal combustion power plants, mild and plug-in hybrids, and fully-electric engines as well. Moreover, the well-known Car Magazine claims that the redesigned 2022 Range Rover will get a wide range of engine choices.

However, Car Magazine didn’t mention any engine specifically. Still, we expect to see a whole lineup with an electrified engine, and a genuine V6 and straight-six diesel mills. Also, expect to see at least one plug-in hybrid version and an electric motor with a 90 kWh battery pack. On top of that, electric motors will be developed in a coalition with the famous German carmaker – BMW.
Furthermore, the Jaguar Land Rover suggested that the upcoming plug-in hybrids will use a 13.1 kWh battery pack. As a result, the all-electric range will be improved to around 31 miles (50km). Also, the all-electric model will include a 90.2 kWh battery, which provides up to 292 miles (470 km) of the driving range.
2020 Range Rover Design
As for the design, 2022 Range Rover will keep the most of its recognizable look. The company’s Creative Director, Mr. Massimo Frascella, announced that the designing of a brand-new Rover holds a certain amount of pressure because we all know how vital the Rover brand is for the company. Yet, Mr. Frascella remarked that it is still a less stressful job than designing the Defender. Because Rover follows the defined path, and more establish visual evolution from the start.
However, there will be some severe changes to the interior of the vehicle. For example, the designers will continue to develop the new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, and by the time Rover hits the streets, it will probably go through several remakes. Also, the two-10-inch display will be available as well. The Jaguar Land Rover will add a 24-way power front seats, refined switchgear, and brand-new door panels.
Interior
The rear seats will include 25 different massage programs, and it will be able to recline by up to 40 degrees. We expect to see an updated digital instrument cluster, several charging ports, as well as a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. So, all indications show that the 2022 Range Rover will come with an evolutionary design. The company’s Creative Director suggested that maybe it will borrow a few design cues from the Velar.
Just as a reminder, Range Rover Velar won the World Car Design award back in 2018. If the reports are accurate, the forthcoming Range Rover could deliver smoother styling, redesigned thin taillights mounted horizontally, instead of vertically, and power-retractable door handles.
