Porsche already announced that the next-gen Macan would feature an all-electric powertrain. It is the 2022 Porsche Macan EV that should arrive later next year. However, Porsche previously released its first all-electric model, and it is the Taycan sport sedan. Now, Macan is almost here, and Porsche will also deliver various visual upgrades.
Even the interior will gain a couple of refreshing things so it will be a brand-new Macan. Porsche will have to change the platform and much more, but it should pay off, and Macan will arrive as a hot compact SUV. Lastly, the price will also increase, which makes perfect sense.
2022 Porsche Macan EV Design
The upcoming 2022 Porsche Macan EV will ride on a new PPE platform. This architecture has been co-designed by Audi and Porsche for the VW Group’s premium electric cars. However, standard gasoline-powered Macan continues to ride on the MLB Evo platform, and a hybrid variant uses the same underpinnings. Anyway, the new Macan EV will arrive as a new model in terms of design. It is a next-gen vehicle, so numerous visual tweaks are a must.
New spy shots are already available, and we can say that the 2022 Macan looks different. The profile is changed, especially the lower parts. The front fascia hosts a new bumper with larger intakes. However, we don’t know exactly how the all-electric version will look like. It will surely depart from everything we’ve seen so far.
Cabin Rumors
On the inside, a new 2022 Porsche Macan EV will look very premium. Macan is a luxury SUV with plenty of sportiness. That means the all-electric variant shouldn’t depart from regular Macan. Whatsoever, we believe Porsche won’t deliver anything new or surprising. The only updates will be tech-wise, including a new infotainment system and possibly larger displays.
At this moment, the base trim level offers a 7-inch touchscreen that will be replaced. A larger touchscreen will also force Porsche to remove some physical buttons. New upholstery is a possibility, but it is hard to say if that will surely happen. Lastly, Porsche will offer numerous optional packages and amazing safety ratings.
2022 Porsche Macan EV System
The “skateboard” platform will accommodate batteries under the floor and between the axles. The 2022 Porsche Macan EV will offer both rear and all-wheel-drive system with a single or dual-motor setup. Moreover, Macan can fit air suspension and rear-wheel steering. Macan EV will feature an 800-volt charging capability, and it will provide amazing performances.
Moreover, Macan will get its Turbo variant as well. The powertrain will generate up to 700 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque. Of course, Porsche will offer different trim levels with various driving ranges. The entry-level model will provide around 245 miles of driving range. However, nothing is official yet, but Audi E-Tron GT and Porsche Taycan are showing us what could new Macan offers.
Price and Release Date
The forthcoming 2022 Porsche Macan EV will cost more than the gasoline version. The difference is significant so new Macan EV could cost around $55,000 or even $60,000. As for the Turbo variant, it will cost $80,000. The sales will start by the end of 2021 or at the beginning of 2022.
