The 2022 Peugeot 308 is coming to the markets, most likely in the first quarter of 2022. It is the next-gen Peugeot 308 so we expect a lot of significant updates. The goal is to rival the famous Golf model. Thanks to that, Peugeot will introduce a new bolder design, a more modern interior, and more standard features. However, the biggest upgrade is the hybrid powertrain option.
This model will be launched in Australia and Europe and it is the first Peugeot vehicle to wear the brand’s all-new logo. Besides Golf, Peugeot 308 will rival Renault Megane and Mazda 3. After the first spy shots with plenty of camouflage, new spy photos are showing an almost uncovered prototype of the compact hatchback. Without further ado, this is everything you need to know.
Peugeot 308 Redesign
A new batch of spy shots is showing the latest upgrades on the 2022 Peugeot 308. The approaching hatchback will gain a completely new design. We can spot a cleaner front fascia with redesigned headlights and grille. We think the new-gen 308 model looks stunning and sportier.
The styling cues are borrowed from the 208 and 508 variants, including vertical LED daytime running lights and slimmer LED taillights. The grille sits taller and it hosts additional radar sensors. New Peugeot 308 rides on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels and new exterior colors will be on offer.
On the inside, the new 2022 Peugeot 308 will gain a completely new i-Cockpit layout. Thanks to that, Peugeot will introduce a smaller steering wheel and a larger 10-inch infotainment display. Moreover, a new 10-inch 3D digital instrument cluster is available. The updated infotainment supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Satellite navigation is on offer and the French manufacturer will also add a new “OK Peugeot” voice control system. Interestingly, but Peugeot opted for PRND buttons so the traditional gear selector is gone. The cabin will feature a new sound system, new ambient LED lighting system, and more USB ports. As you can see, this is a complete cabin overhaul.
Numerous Engine Options
The 2022 Peugeot 308 will once again offer multiple diesel and gasoline engines. However, this next-gen model will also introduce a mild-hybrid and two plug-in hybrid variants as well. This hatchback rides on the EMP2 platform, which is a good thing. Peugeot 308 will combine smaller turbo gasoline engines in its plug-in hybrid versions, producing 147 hp and 176 hp.
An 81kW electric motor is on offer and the total output is rated at 177 horsepower and 221 horsepower. The French manufacturer also provides a 12.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack and Peugeot promises around 37 miles of electric range. Finally, an eight-speed automatic transmission is available.
2022 Peugeot 308 Price, Release Date
The next-gen 2022 Peugeot 308 will now cost around $31,000, which is a slightly higher price than before. This compact hatchback will go on sale in Europe later in 2021. The Australian customers will have to wait for March 2022.
