Mercedes unveiled a concept vehicle on Monday and it is an all-electric minivan. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQT is coming to the markets. This model is currently under development. The Concept EQT is an electric version of the future T-Class, which is essentially a new passenger van being built alongside a revamped Citan.
The Citan is a small commercial van that is offered outside of the United States. The Mercedes-Benz EQT was unveiled ahead of the commercial version’s European debut in 2022. Mercedes-Benz is swiftly accumulating a stockpile of its own EQ brand of electric vehicles. None of them are now available; the first to do so will be a luxury EQS variant.
2022 Mercedes EQT Looks Very Modern
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQT is labeled as a “near-series-production” minivan. This means the production version will look similar to what you see here. It has a length of 194.6 inches. As a result, legroom shouldn’t be an issue on the inside. Furthermore, three kid seats might be installed next to each other in the following row of chairs.
We think the EQT minivan looks very elegant and very modern. The sharply sloping rear section, combined with a vertical tailgate and glass, provides a particularly competitive model, especially in the minivan segment.
Premium Interior Design
The forthcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQT comes with sliding doors on both sides. This is a three-row/seven-seat minivan with plenty of passenger room. Mercedes didn’t say anything about storage space, but the carmaker has stated that the third-row seats may be folded or removed entirely to optimize storage. The EQT’s interior is very premium and full of luxury. Still, a -7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen working on a Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system will be standard.
This may come as a disappointment as we expected at least an 8-inch unit. A conventional gear selector also sticks out, revealing its Renault origins. The MBUX infotainment screen incorporates the brand’s “Hey Mercedes” speech assistant, as well as AI-powered features. The seats are wrapped in white Nappa leather. In front of the driver is a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel. A panoramic sunroof completes the luxury interior full of modern features and premium materials.
Driving Range, Charging
Like the T-Class, the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQT is for young families and those with busy lives who do not want to upgrade to a huge crossover or pickup truck. The T-Class will be built on the architecture supplied by the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance. The same platform will also underpin the all-new EQT electric minivan.
According to the Renault alliance, power comes from the front axle’s 100hp/180 lb-ft electric motor, which is coupled to a 44kWh ion battery. The EQT will reportedly deliver a range of 265 miles. A 75kW DC fast-charging system allows an 80 percent charge in 40 minutes, while a 22kW AC outlet will need two hours to charge the same amount.
2022 Mercedes-Benz EQT Release Date and Price
While Mercedes does not currently offer electric vans in the United States, that will change in 2023. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQT won’t arrive in North America right away. However, Mercedes plans to introduce its Sprinter full-size van. The electric Sprinter for the United States will be produced in the Mercedes’ Charleston, South Carolina facility.
Mercedes hasn’t revealed plans for the EQT, or any T-Class version, in the United States. Given the popularity of crossovers in America, we doubt any of the vans will make it the United States. The price is not available yet.
