The upcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE is the brand’s newest SUV. The EQE is also available in a sedan variant that slots below a larger EQS all-electric sedan, and it features the same electrification technology. First spy photos are already available, but we expect from the EQE SUV to arrive next fall. The Mercedes-Benz EQE is basically a mid-size crossover, larger than the EQC, but it isn’t clear if the SUV variant will be called “EQE” too.
Anyway, both sedan and SUV have been spotted doing the test on the road. Spy photos are showing more than enough information. On the other hand, Mercedes is quiet on some other parts, such as mechanics and the performance figures. Even the interior is still a mystery.
2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE Exterior
New spy photos of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE are showing the SUV with similar styling to the EQE and EQS sedans. The front part is dominated by slim headlights and its lines that flow into the sealed-off grille. Interestingly, the prototype looks closer to a minivan in terms of style and proportions. However, this is a good thing as Tesla Model X is wearing similar characteristics.
Its comprehensive disguise didn’t show a lot of details, but some parts are so easy to spot. For instance, the mentioned grille is larger than on some other brand’s models. A taller roofline looks perfect, along with the full-width LED light bar in the back.
As we said, the interior details are not available at the moment. However, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE won’t depart from other Mercedes’ models. It is a luxury brand that offers very premium cabin designs with a high level of comfort. The interior is fitted with upright materials and the latest high-tech features.
Mercedes will deliver ambient lighting, a fully digital gauge cluster, and a new head-up display. The MBUX infotainment system is updated, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen will replace various buttons and controls. However, more precise interior details will be announced in the coming months.
2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE Engine
New 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE will ride on the company’s MEA2 EV platform. This architecture made its debut in the EQS variant. It is a skateboard-like platform that could provide up to 400 miles of driving range. The EQE SUV will have both front and rear electric motors. Thanks to that, the all-wheel-drive system will be offered as standard. The arriving SUV will generate 402 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque.
The EQE model will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in five seconds or slightly below that. Expect even better figures for the sedan version. The 93.2-kWh battery pack will utilize DC fast-charging system. Thanks to that, you can charge your new SUV from 10 to 80 percent in around 40 minutes. The onboard charger will need up to 10 hours to fully recharge the battery.
Price and Release Date
The forthcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE will arrive as a mid-size crossover SUV. It will cost more than its sedan sibling, so the price that starts at around $70,000 is the most likely outcome. The EQE SUV will rival Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-Pace, and Audi e-Tron. The German automaker will launch its new 2021 EQE SUV next fall.
