The next-gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class is in the works. This model was revealed this September, but we are more interested in a new 2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e variant. Like the regular S-Class, the AMG version will also gain major upgrades. This full-size sedan will under some dramatic changes and first spy shots are already available.
This is a high-performance model that offers a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Moreover, both S63 and S73e will feature a V8 engine under the bonnet. Spy shots are showing the latest exterior upgrades. 2022 AMG S63e Spy Shots
The spied prototype was almost camouflage-free. Thanks to that, we exactly know how the 2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e will look like. As we said, exterior upgrades are major and the full-size sedan will look astonishing. The AMG treatment is visible at first glance. The front fascia is perhaps the greatest mystery at the moment.
However, we don’t expect updates so the AMG model will look closer to the regular S-Class. The recognizable Panamericana grille is surely hiding beneath the camo and we expect small modifications on it. The rear part comes with quad exhaust outlets that are looking incredibly sporty. The side profile shows significantly wider tires and S63e will probably wear different bodylines.
Astonishing Performances
First of all, the 2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e will get lowered suspension and new brakes. We already mentioned four exhaust tips so what does it mean. Well, a new AMG variant will run on hybrid power. It is a plug-in hybrid powertrain so the old V12 from the S65 model is no longer available. And just like the S73e model, this version will also offer a V8 engine under the hood.
This fast sedan will deploy a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that works in a combination with an electric motor. A four-wheel-drive system will be offered as standard. We saw something similar in the AMG GT concept from 2017 that reportedly delivers 805 hp. As for the S63e, the most reliable experts are predicting around 700 horsepower. The electric motor will generate around 134 horses in the S63e model.
On the other hand, the S73e variant will generate around 800 hp and the electric motor generates 200 horsepower. The current S63 model can produce 603 hp so Mercedes will definitely deliver more power for the all-new 2022 AMG S63e model. 2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e Release Date
From what we know, the new GT 4-Door Coupe version will be the first model to debut this plug-in hybrid powertrain. As for the 2022, Mercedes-AMG S63e will probably go on sale in April 2021. Interestingly, this model will firstly arrive in China.
As for the United States, new S-Class will hit the roads later in the year, possibly around September. The price is not available yet and it is hard to predict some details at the moment. However, Mercedes will release more info in the coming weeks.
