2021 VW ID Buzz concept will enter production, leading the new generation of Microbus models. The German company, driven by popular demand, announces earlier this year its plan of selling a production-ready model. The main targets for this trendy and award-winning model will be Europe, United States, and China. The Chairman of the VW Board of Management says that they want to make the best fully electric vehicle on the world.
The ID Buzz is the third EV concept that Volkswagen is presented to the audience. Earlier, we had a chance to see on the ID Crozz concept what an electric VW SUV could look like. In the same fashion, the VW ID Vizzion represents the future of autonomous driving. All three of this concept use Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Drive platform. Also known as MEB.

2021 VW ID Buzz Design
The exterior of 2021 VW ID Buzz reminds to the first generation of this popular microbus. It carries a two-tone V-nose, a hint of a windshield, rectangular windows, and a display at the rear side air vents that resembles the original design.
The new model is made to recall the Type 2 Microbus styling without copying it. But, that does not mean that Buzz will lack innovations. The fold-away steering wheel, heads-up display that integrates enhanced reality, and pop-up laser scanners in the roof are one of the most exciting features. The concept already won few styling awards since it reveled at the Detroit Auto Show.
Furthermore, the front V in the bodyworks reminds us of the two-tone predecessor. But, in the Buzz case, it brings a light strip that surrounds the car and provides an exclusive visual trademark. In the same manner, the LED headlights come with the hexagonal component that will improve the overall style.
Moreover, with near-zero body overhangs and 22-inch wheels, 2021 ID Buzz accomplishes to look very modern and timeless. Besides, just like the original microbus, styling, and intelligent engineering will provide enough space for passengers and cargo. On top of that, you’ll find a front trunk, practically the same as in the original VW Beetle.
Specs
The very-first VW Bus was introduced in the States back in 1950. That model has an output of 30 hp. 2021 VW ID Buzz will have 369 hp from electric motors on each axle. Also, the all-wheel-drive will be a standard option. The 111 kWh battery in the floor of the MEB chassis will provide almost 300 miles of driving range.
Furthermore, with a usage of a Volkswagens fast-charge system, the battery can recharge approximately 80 % in 30 minutes, at 150 kW. 2021 VW ID Buzz gives a preview of the new type of autonomous technology that the company is developing. They call it a fully-automated ID Pilot, a mode that could enter the production by 2025.
2021 VW ID Buzz Release Date
2021 VW ID Buzz will be the seventh generation of the microbus. Over time, this model evolved in style, but always keep the recognizable character, versatility. Besides, one of the main characteristics of Buzz is the ability to draw attention and offer excellent accommodation.
The release date is not yet officially confirmed. However, according to the reports from Volkswagen’s headquarters, we expect to see this model in the first half of 2021.
