2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge

2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge Is the New Pure Electric SUV

The all-new 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge is an all-electric SUV. This model will hit the markets later in 2020 and it will cost below $50,000. XC40 Recharge is based on the smaller XC40 SUV and it will produce a lot of power. On top of that, its driving range is amazing.

Interestingly, but Recharge variant will depart from its sibling in terms of design while the interior should be the same. Rivals such as Jaguar I-Pace, Hyundai Kona EV and Audi e-Tron will have to step up their game. Here’s what new Volvo’s model has to offer in 2021.

2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge Provides Unique Styling

The 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge departs from the regular XC40 in terms of design. The new model offers a unique design with a distinctive front fascia. The front grille is gone and Volvo opted for a flush surface instead. The reason is that there’s no engine cooling so the regular grille doesn’t have any functionality.

On top of that, removing the engine makes room for more storage. As the latest Tesla’s models, XC40 Recharge will also offer a “frunk”. It is a trunk but it sits upfront and it provides plenty of room for your storage.

Interior Styling and Numerous Techs

The interior of the regular XC40 and Recharge models is basically the same. However, the 2021 Volvo XC40 will arrive with the latest updates. That includes a new infotainment system with Google’s Android operating system. Volvo’s collaboration with Google is present for a couple of years now. Thanks to that, XC40 Recharge comes with Google Store, Google Maps built-in, and even Google Assistant.

The best part of it, even Apple iPhone users will have a famous CarPlay system. Volvo mentioned the autonomy level for a couple of times now but we don’t know which level will operate. Lastly, the interior will feel premium and it will deliver plenty of upright materials.

2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge Engine

The forthcoming 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge won’t use a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Instead, this is an all-electric model and it will ride on electric motors and the battery pack. Recharge will deliver 402 horsepower which is impressive for such a small crossover-SUV.

Volvo offers a standard all-wheel-drive setup and Swedish carmaker claims 250 miles of driving range. Furthermore, Recharge accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. However, EPA is yet to rate this crossover as this is Volvo’s promised figures. Usually, EPA lowers the estimated driving range, but not significantly. Still, these figures are on par with the Audi e-Tron model. As for the charging time, XC40 Recharge will take 40 minutes for 80 percent on a fast charger.

Price and Release Date

As for the price, the new 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge will start below $50,000. Swedish brand promised this and numerous reports are confirming it. The all-electric crossover SUV will go on sale later this year. The main competitors are the Audi e-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace. Volvo also said the plan is to release at least one all-electric vehicle every year. Thanks to that, the manufacturer will reduce the climate footprint by 40 percent in the next 20 years.
