2021 Toyota Prius Powertrain
New 2021 Toyota Prius will continue to use the same 1.8-liter gasoline engine that delivers 121 horsepower. However, Toyota will deliver new lithium-ion batteries. Thanks to that, the new-generation model will provide 25 miles of all-electric range.
The previous model was good for 18 miles. We are still waiting for exact fuel economy details but you should expect almost 60 mpg combined, which is astonishing. Prius’ recognizable CVT transmission is available once again. This isn’t a typical CVT and Toyota calls it “Power Split Device.”
Price and Release Date
The latest Toyota’s statement says that the new Prius won’t arrive this year. The reason is the Coronavirus outbreak so expect next-gen 2021 Toyota Prius in the first stage of 2021.
The price will start at $25,000. Some reports are even reporting about Prius SUV which means a sedan version won’t be produced anymore. However, this is just pure speculation for now.
