The upcoming 2021 Toyota Prius is ready for further refreshments. Prius is a very stylish sedan that delivers it all. It is one of the world’s best-selling hybrid cars at the moment. Now, new-gen Prius is almost here and the customers should be excited about various reasons. Prius is mostly known for its hybrid powertrain and it is one of the most economical vehicles in the North American markets.
You can also read a lot of rumors about Toyota discounting the Prius model. The same reports are suggesting new Prius in a small SUV form. That is something that could happen in the future, but for now, 2021 Prius is arriving as a next-gen sedan.
2021 Toyota Prius Exterior Appearance
We like everything about Prius sedan. The next-gen 2021 Toyota Prius will look even better than its predecessor but the goal is the same. Toyota will once again create an effective design with perfect aerodynamics. Thanks to that, you should expect even better fuel efficiency. As for the design, it is hard to predict the exact exterior appearance. No doubt, Prius will gain significant upgrades.
That includes new wheels and numerous changes on the front and rear fascia. The new model will provide sharper lines as well but Toyota’s recognizable design language is present as always before. You can forget about the rumors of mid-cycle refreshments. Toyota introduces new-gen Prius every six years so the 2021 model is certain for a redesign.
The all-new 2021 Toyota Prius will continue to offer a comfortable interior with lots of tech goodies. However, the Japanese manufacturer will introduce even more technology inside the new Prius. For example, Prius lacks the Android Auto system so you should expect this feature in the next-gen model.
This sedan will also get a new infotainment system and new driver-assistance aids. The cabin will most likely carry with its familiar design and the seating layout won’t change at all. You can only expect small changes such as chrome trims or different shape of the air vents. Prius comes with 27.5 cubic feet of cargo space which is more than enough. Lastly, Toyota will rearrange the layout of the buttons in the cabin.
2021 Toyota Prius Powertrain
New 2021 Toyota Prius will continue to use the same 1.8-liter gasoline engine that delivers 121 horsepower. However, Toyota will deliver new lithium-ion batteries. Thanks to that, the new-generation model will provide 25 miles of all-electric range.
The previous model was good for 18 miles. We are still waiting for exact fuel economy details but you should expect almost 60 mpg combined, which is astonishing. Prius’ recognizable CVT transmission is available once again. This isn’t a typical CVT and Toyota calls it “Power Split Device.”
Price and Release Date
The latest Toyota’s statement says that the new Prius won’t arrive this year. The reason is the Coronavirus outbreak so expect next-gen 2021 Toyota Prius in the first stage of 2021.
The price will start at $25,000. Some reports are even reporting about Prius SUV which means a sedan version won’t be produced anymore. However, this is just pure speculation for now.
