2021 Toyota C-HR

2021 Toyota C-HR Review, Release Date, Specs

The upcoming 2021 Toyota C-HR is an impressive SUV that offers high fuel efficiency and eye-catching design. However, the highlight of the 2021 C-HR won’t be its four-cylinder engine option. Instead, a hybrid powertrain is in the offer but it isn’t available in every market. The cabin looks very nice and modern while the exterior design looks funky.

For 2021, Toyota will add more safety equipment and more standard amenities. Besides that, not much will change for the 2021 C-HR. Unfortunately, the all-wheel-drive setup is still not available. There will be three trim levels and the price should remain intact.

2021 Toyota C-HR Cosmetic Changes

The all-new 2021 Toyota C-HR will receive minor cosmetic upgrades. The new model comes with subtle refreshments only. That includes small modification of the bumpers and the doors. Thanks to that, the new C-HR will look slightly more modern and aggressive.

Still, its funky styling remains and we think the bodywork is impressive. The 2021 model is still the first-gen C-HR and Toyota clearly has no plans to deliver significant upgrades before the second-gen C-HR arrives. It is Toyota’s smallest SUV and it comes with a sharp design. Japanese manufacturer offers a recognizable design language with numerous triangular shapes.

Modern Cabin

The 2021 Toyota C-HR is a modern SUV with a very attractive interior. The build quality is quite upscale, expect for cheap plastic panels. The use of materials is truly great and all of the materials are durable. That includes a faux-leather dashboard, diamond-patterned amenities such as door panels, and headliner.

Furthermore, C-HR comes with various piano black accents and chrome accents. The cabin looks youthful and Toyota offers a lot of equipment as well. That includes standard dual-zone automatic climate control and optional sunroof. Cargo capacity is above average and C-HR offers a standard 8-inch touchscreen. The infotainment system is up to date and it supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth. As we said, this small SUV will get more safety equipment for 2021.

2021 Toyota C-HR Engine

Unlike its competitors, the 2021 Toyota C-HR will not use a plug-in hybrid system. Instead, it is a self-charging hybrid powertrain that provides electric power for short distances only. However, the price is more affordable and it is the most practical setup that you can get. The C-HR SUV will combine a 2.0-liter engine with a hybrid system.

This output will deliver 184 horsepower. It is a great improvement as the conventional engine delivers 120 hp. A 1.8-liter engine is still available but a 1.2-liter powertrain is gone. The CVT transmission is available but exact hybrid specs are yet to be announced.

Price and Release Date

The price of the regular LE trim level starts at $23,000. However, loading a hybrid powertrain will cost you more money. The price difference between LE and XLE is very small, so we’d suggest you to skip the base trim.

The 2021 Toyota C-HR will go on sale by the end of the year. Limited trim is available for $28,000, which means this variant with a hybrid powertrain will cost above $30k.
