New 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will hit the markets with further changes and upgrades. Its Sport model will get a new and more potent engine, which is the highlight of the 2021 model. Moreover, minor visual updates are visible at first glance. Crosstrek is a subcompact SUV based on the Impreza hatchback. It is a model that is also available in a plug-in hybrid variant.
Overall, we think Crosstrek is a complete package. It offers numerous powertrain options, it looks modern and handsome, and its interior is full of high-tech amenities. The price will once again start at around $23,500. However, upper trim levels or hybrid version will cost over $30k. The sales will begin in the coming months.
What’s New on the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?
As we already said, the upcoming 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will feature a couple of minor cosmetic upgrades. That includes refreshments on the front fascia, while the rest of the vehicle remains intact. The new front bumper looks amazing. Moreover, the grille is now finished in a completely new design. The rest of the changes are far from significant.
However, the Sport trim level will get brand-new 17-inch wheels. Subaru is improving its Sport variant with additional mechanical upgrades, new roof rails, and a new engine. However, Crosstrek SUV is basically unchanged in other trim levels. We like the optional body-colored and gloss-black exterior features, and we’d recommend it to everyone.
Interior Design
New 2021 Subaru Crosstrek comes with good interior design. Interestingly, Crosstrek is based on the Impreza hatchback, and it borrows plenty of its features. For 2021, the interior comes with more equipment. Whatsoever, each trim level offers more features than before. That also includes new safety systems that are part of Subaru’s EyeSight suite.
The cabin is durable, but it lacks flair and more premium materials. Moreover, we think the interior layout is far from perfect. On the other hand, the StarLink infotainment system is organized and responsive. A 6.5-inch touchscreen comes as standard, while the 8.0-inch display is optional.
2021 Subaru Crosstrek Powertrain Details
The forthcoming 2021 Subaru Crosstrek uses a four-cylinder gasoline unit as its base engine, and it delivers 152 hp. However, a plug-in hybrid powertrain is a real deal. It costs more, but it will improve the ride quality in every possible way. Crosstrek PHEV is more powerful, and it provides a more pleasant ride. Its all-electric driving range has been rated at 17 miles. On the other hand, fuel efficiency is better, 32 mpg combined when paired with CVT automatic transmission.
Subaru offers a standard 120-volt outlet, while the 240-volt unit is optional. Crosstrek PHEV will need around two hours to fully charge. As we already wrote, the Sport variant will get a new 2.5-liter engine, and it will provide almost 200 horses. The same output can be found in larger Outback and Legacy models.
Price and Release Date
The upcoming 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is available in five trim levels. The base trim level starts at $23,500. The Sport variant will cost you $27,500 and Limited up to $30,000. However, Crosstrek Hybrid is the best option available, and it is available for $36,000. The sales will start by the end of 2020, most likely in the last quarter of the year.
