Nissan’s forerunner in the full-size sedan class is ready for a mid-cycle refresh. By the same time, the upcoming 2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid will make its own way on the rapidly growing market. The timing is perfect, taking into account that almost every major rival is developing a hybrid version.
The changes will occur both in the engine room and in the visible portion of the vehicle. Expect to see some sharper edges and a couple of innovations. Moreover, the interior will set a difficult task to the rest of the class buddies, to try and match this level of elegance.
2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid Exterior
The upcoming 2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid will follow the same path at stay on the company’s standard N platform. Not much will be different from the previous model, but some improvements are noticeable. Although this sedan is quite large in dimensions, the operating experience is simply amazing. In that area, Nissan Maxima is surely one of the class leaders. Models like Kia Cadenza, Chevrolet Impala or Buick LaCrosse are far behind.
The visual changes will bring a more appealing styling on both ends. Essentially, the most noticeable change is a bit sharper shape of the bumpers. The front fascia will be slightly altered as well. The cabin of 2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid will try to match the most sophisticated models in the segment. The good reference point is probably the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. So, you can expect leather seats, good amount of equipment and some unique and exclusive features. However, the cabin must be broad enough to accommodate up to seven passengers and offers them a high level of comfort.
The rear seats are nicely arranged tho’, so we believe that the coziness will be excellent. Furthermore, the infotainment system will include the latest features, that will be controlled via the touchscreen in the center of the dashboard. Nissan is famous for safety suite for every model, and Maxima Nissan Hybrid is no exception to that.
The new system called Safety Shield includes a blind-spot monitoring, rear-driving supporting process, lane-keep assist, etc. Of course, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are available as part of standard equipment. Lastly, the cargo area offers an impressive 14.3 cubic feet of space. You won’t find that in most of the luxury sport sedans, right?
Under the hood of arriving 2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid will be a combination that includes 3.5-liter DOHC 24-Valve V6 unit. On the other side, there is an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery. The 3.5-liter powertrain can develop 300 hp with 261 lb-ft of torque.
The standard transmission is an Xtronic CVT. The company’s D-Step logic is included. This feature mimics the logic of traditional automatic, by letting the revs and fall when at full throttle. The fuel economy will be practically the same as for regular Nissan Maxima.
2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid Release Date and Price
One of the most interesting things is that the 2021 Nissan Maxima Hybrid will cost significantly less than similar vehicles. The base version of this model will have an MSRP of around $30,000. Of course, additional equipment and special packages may raise this price to above $40,000.
But, Maxima Hybrid is definitely one of the best vehicles in this segment. However, we still don’t know the official release date. The regular Maxima is scheduled to go on the market before the fall of 2020. So, we expect that the hybrid version will come shortly after that.
