The upcoming 2021 Nissan Ariya is the company’s newest all-electric SUV. Recently presented at Tokyo Auto Show, Ariya could arrive under a different name. Its arrival on the American soil is certain to happen and this SUV has been based on the concept. The approaching model should become something between the IMx concept and the Nissan Leaf model.
According to Nissan, Ariya will provide more interior room than the X-Trail model. Moreover, Ariya wears the company’s newest design language and it looks amazing. Lower ground clearance and the new platform will provide good ride quality. Performance figures are not available yet but reliable reports are already having the idea of Ariya’s figures.
2021 Nissan Ariya Outside Styling
In terms of design, the new 2021 Nissan Ariya will look very sporty and modern. Some parts are incredibly futuristic and Ariya takes a wider stance with lower ride height. Its new architecture is a product of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance and it underpins new models from all three brands. The platform is able to accommodate different shapes and sizes of the batteries and electric motors.
Interestingly, Ariya will be shorter than the X-Trail SUV, but it will provide more interior room. The styling is very distinctive and it is the new Nissan’s design language. The front part offers LED headlights that are blending into the grille. On top of that, a full-width LED bar is available in the rear section. Raked roofline provides a coupe-like appearance and it looks beautiful.
Cabin Looks Upscale
The interior of the 2021 Nissan Ariya looks modern and it provides a high level of comfort. The new brand’s SUV comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that dominates the cabin. Interestingly, Ariya will get plenty of dials, which comes as a surprise. However, some of the controls are still operated via touchscreen. Nissan offers its ProPilot active safety system and a semi-autonomous driving system. The electric SUV can drive itself within the highway lane.
Moreover, Ariya comes with automatic climate controls and a digital personal assistant. The sporty steering wheel looks impressive and it has been offered as standard. As for the optional features, Nissan provides wireless charging, leather seats, and a pre-cool system. This system sets the temperature while the car is on the parking spot.
2021 Nissan Ariya Driving Range, Specs
While we are waiting for the performance figures, various reports are suggesting a 400 HP powertrain. Moreover, the 2021 Nissan Ariya will provide over 300 miles of driving range. The credit goes to a dual-motor setup and intelligent four-wheel-drive system. Ariya comes with superb handling and very good ride quality.
It will be interesting to see if Nissan can outperform Tesla Model X and its 314 miles of driving range. As for the charging, Ariya will use the same Chademo plug as the Nissan Leaf. Lastly, Ariya will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in five seconds.
Price and Release Date
The first reports suggested the price that starts at $37,000. However, the 2021 Nissan Ariya will cost slightly more, at around $40,000. There will be at least three trim levels and electric SUV will go on sale later this year. As we said, Ariya will surely reach American soil.
