The upcoming 2021 Lexus ES 300h is a luxury sedan that competes with rivals such as BMW 5 Series and Audi A6. Unlike its European competitors, the ES 300h model is cheaper, but it does not lack anything. The highlight of the arriving sedan is a new lithium-ion battery. That means the current nickel-hydrogen battery won’t be available anymore.
A new battery pack will provide even better fuel efficiency, which is great. Besides that, Lexus will deliver new features, and even the styling will get a couple of minor tweaks. This sedan is available in Japan only as a hybrid. Most likely, ES 300 sedan will arrive in the U.S. with a gasoline powertrain option.
2021 Lexus ES 300h Exterior Review
New 2021 Lexus ES 300h won’t receive such drastic cosmetic upgrades. Whatsoever, this model still carries fresh styling as it was introduced in 2019. For 2021, the luxury sedan will gain brand-new digital side-view mirrors. However, this feature is available in the F Sport version only. Originally, Lexus planned to introduce new mirrors on the base trim level, but the technology in Japan is limited at the moment.
This system will use interior digital display, and it will help the driver in so many ways. The arriving Lexus ES 300h will also arrive with a new Black Line Special Edition package. This package is based on the F Sport model, and it adds black exterior trim and a black lip spoiler.
Luxury Interior
The luxury sedan comes with a premium interior, equipped with high-quality materials. Both rows are offering more than enough space for the passengers, and that includes the adults in the back. Comfort is amazing, and the cabin is very quiet. With 17.0 cubic feet of space, new 2021 Lexus ES 300h offers more cargo room than Volvo S90 and Acura TLX.
A new and more compact battery will provide even more interior room, according to Lexus. For 2021, the Japanese manufacturer will add blind-spot monitoring and parking support brake systems. The infotainment system is up to date, and it will use a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
2021 Lexus ES 300h Engine
As we said, the 2021 Lexus ES 300h is sold in Japan exclusively as a hybrid. This sedan uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. Combining this engine with a permanent-magnetic electric motor provides 215 horsepower. However, the highlight of the 2021 model is a new lithium-ion battery.
This battery pack will replace the current nickel-hydrogen battery, and it will provide better fuel efficiency. Whatsoever, new Lexus ES 300h will deliver 52.4 mpg in the United States, compared to the previous 48.4 mpg. Lexus offers a continuously variable transmission, and its new sedan comes with superb handling and driving dynamics.
Price and Release Date
The ES lineup of luxury sedans starts at $40,000. However, the 2021 Lexus ES 300h will cost around $43,000. According to the latest reports, the hybrid sedan will cost significantly more in Japan. However, exact pricing details are not available yet. The sales will begin later this year, and buyers in Japan will have a choice of a hybrid powertrain exclusively. On the other hand, U.S. customers will have to choose between gasoline and hybrid powertrains.
