The upcoming 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport will arrive with a total revamp. That includes new design and new gasoline and diesel engine options. On top of that, the infotainment is updated, there will be more trim levels, and safety is improved too. However, the highlight of the 2021 Discovery Sport SUV is its hybrid powertrain.
We are still waiting to hear full specs of the hybrid version, which should happen in the coming weeks. Land Rover says this is a mild update, but from what we see, the Discovery Sport model will get plenty of drastic changes. Still, this model will remain a family SUV with great comfort that starts at around $40,000.
2021 Discovery Sport Facelift
New 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport will get a couple of visual upgrades. The exterior is the only category where this SUV won’t introduce significant changes and upgrades. Many fans are probably disappointed, but we think the Discovery Sport already looks modern enough and stylish. The only notable change is a slightly larger grille. Moreover, the Black Edition model is something new.
This version comes with blacked-out features such as bumpers, the roof, and wheels. As for the regular Discovery Sport, this SUV is 181 inches long, it comes with a very stylish appearance, and generally, this model represents a very modern choice in its segment.
The interior of the 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport will introduce more significant updates. The most important change is the new touchscreen that replaces the old infotainment. Thanks to that, Discovery Sport SUV will offer a new Pivi system and a larger display. This system offers so many advantages and is considered as one of the best infotainments in the automotive industry. It is a well-built cabin with plenty of space.
There is room for five adults, but Discovery Sport is actually a seven-seater. However, two seats in the back are for children only. The list of upgrades continues with additional smartphone connections at the same time, a new air filtration system, and the latest driver-assistance aids. That includes a new rear traffic monitoring system, along with pedestrian detection.
Two All-New Hybrid Powertrain Options
The forthcoming 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport will get a brand-new hybrid powertrain. It is a mild-hybrid gasoline engine with 290 horsepower. However, this engine is exclusive to the Black Edition variant only. Moreover, the current diesel engine with 163 hp and 205 hp will get the same mild-hybrid treatment as well. According to Land Rover, power will not increase drastically, but fuel efficiency will.
On the other hand, none of these two powertrains aren’t full hybrids, which means you can’t drive the new Discovery Sport on electric power exclusively. We are waiting for Land Rover to release full details on its new hybrid variants.
2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport Release Date and Price
The price of the approaching 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport will start at around $40,000. On the other hand, the most expensive variant is the Discovery Sport R-Dynamic HSE that is available for about $54,000. The sales will begin by the end of the current year. Discovery Sport model will rival SUVs such as Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60.
