The forthcoming 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid is a compact SUV that offers great versatility. This model does everything, it looks attractive, and its interior is both spacious and modern. It is a two-row SUV for a room for five passengers, and it’s a great option for families and road trips. While its powertrain options are not quick, fuel economy is what makes CR-V so great.
The ride is very pleasant, and this model also offers plenty of standard amenities. However, 2021 should not bring such major changes as some previous versions. Generally, CR-V continues its path with its own qualities, sophisticated appearance, and a great level of comfort.
2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid Exterior
As we said, the 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid will look like its predecessor. Visual changes are truly minor and barely visible. The latest spy photos are showing exactly that. Spied CR-V was wearing about 50 percent of the camouflage. The lines and creases are the same as before, but we think this is a good thing.
Moreover, CR-V comes with the same grille and the same LED headlights. However, bumpers are slightly bolder, and the rear part comes with tweaked taillights. Some rumors are writing about the extended platform. It is a possibility, and if that happens, CR-V will grow slightly in size.
Interior Looks Modern and Spacious
The interior of the 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid is very modern and spacious. If Honda truly opts for changing the vehicle’s dimensions, new CR-V will introduce even more cabin space. However, the interior carries over with the same quality materials and a familiar layout of buttons and controls. Two rows of seats are providing room for five occupants. We think the cabin is tasteful, Honda combines wood and chrome materials, and it looks very nice. On top of that, brushed-satin finishes are looking great in the Touring trim level.
The CR-V SUV offers a class-leading cargo volume, and the cabin is very user-friendly. The infotainment system will finally get the latest updates. This is more than important as the current system can be frustrating at times. The base trim level offers a 5.0-inch screen while upper trims are available with a larger 7.0-inch touchscreen. The cabin design will remain intact, so the interior only gets high-tech updates for 2021.
2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid Engine
First of all, the regular CR-V model comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that makes 190 hp. The Japanese manufacturer did a great job of pairing it with a CVT transmission. However, the 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid is a more popular option. This variant comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors. Combined, CR-V Hybrid can produce up to 212 horsepower. Moreover, the ride is more pleasant as a hybrid model comes with active noise cancelation system.
This makes the ride quieter and smoother. The compact crossover SUV can tow up to 1500 pounds only, which is far from class-leading figures. As for fuel efficiency, the hybrid variant provides 40 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. To compare, gasoline-powered CR-V earns 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
Price and Release Date
While the base LX trim starts at $26,500, the 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid is available for $29,000. It isn’t such a drastic difference in price as the range-topping Touring Hybrid variant costs $37,000. The Japanese automaker will release its new SUV by the end of the current year.
