2021 Ford F-150 Electric Towing Capacity, and Price

The Dearborn-based carmaker is planning to hybridize most of its vehicles. That is the main focus for the last two years. According to the reports from Michigan, the company will introduce electrified engines for F-150 and Mustang. Therefore, we can expect 2021 Ford F-150 Electric in the near future.

This model will definitely change the industry. It will deliver a new platform for the pickup truck, as well as the refined exterior design. That platform will accommodate a massive battery pack and two electric motors. Furthermore, the industry experts predict that the same platform will underpin the forthcoming all-electric Mustang crossover.

Still, we don’t have the info about the vehicle’s range and the MPG. The main competitors like Rivian and Tesla announce new trucks with a range over 400 miles. Ford will prepare an answer, no doubt.

Redesign

The 2021 Ford F-150 Electric will definitely get a redesign. One of the main reasons for that is the desire to establish a more unique look. The company wants different visual appearance for the electric model, so it can’t be confused with the regular version. The electric pickup truck comes with the same shape and the same measurements. However, the 2021 version will introduce plenty of improvements and changes, especially on the front end of the vehicle.

The front fascia receives new, modern styling, thanks to the brand-new LED headlights. Moreover, the front grille is altered a bit, adding a more aggressive design tone to the whole picture. The F-150 Electric rolls on a premium 17-inch wheels. The receiver hitch is practically the same as on the standard model.

On the backside, the taillights are redesigned as well, to fit the silhouette and the general form of the truck. As for the cabin, the Blue Oval will not introduce any dramatical changes. Of course, you can expect more displays and touch-based controls, since this is an electric vehicle after all.

Besides that, the seating configuration will stay the same. The electric version will include all of the safety features as a regular model, plus some exclusive driver-assistance features. We expect to see a couple of different color schemes for interior, to create a specific style.

2021 Ford F-150 Electric Raptor

The current F-150 Raptor is powered by a 7.0-liter DOHC V8 unit. So, the next logical step is a hybrid version. According to our sources, Raptor Hybrid will probably use a pair of electric motors and a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. This powertrain is capable to produce 410 horsepower and 435 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, 2021 F-150 Electric Raptor will go through exterior refreshments as well.

The front body-colored fascia will get minor tweaks, while the grille stays very prominent with the FORD block letters. Next, the SuperCab version will include 170 Degree Rear Door and BoxLink. The daytime light will be the same as on the standard F-150, and the cargo lamp is integrated with Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp.

On top of that, the customers may choose additional LED Box Lightning, and LED Mirror-Mounted Spotlights. Also, the optional package includes Tailgate Step with Tailgate Lift Assist. As for the interior, the layout will stay pretty much the same. The only difference is that the Carbon Fiber and Blue Interior Accent Package will include more features.

Engine

The company will keep the existing V8 mill and add a pair of electric motors. As a result, the 2021 Ford F-150 will gain more power and torque. A new 4.8-liter, that can produce 420 hp may find the way to the range and replace the V8 engine. The F-150 Electric works with a combination called a “dual-motor driving system”, and it will power the hybrid version.

Still, the Michigan-based automaker didn’t precise the vehicle that will receive this patent. Two main pretenders are the Mustang Hybrid and F 150-Electric. This driving system showing a twin.motor system for some of the upcoming hybrid vehicles.

The patent includes a longitudinally-mounted powertrain that is connected to two electric motors. There will be one electric motor on each of the front wheels, and some kind of internal combustion will distribute power to the rear wheels.

2021 Ford F-150 Electric Towing Capacity

In the last couple of months, one of the main topics on the forums around the web was the video in which the F-150 all-electric prototype tows over 1 million lbs of train carts. The company did another test, where the pickup truck pulls even more weight. Our opinion is that Blue Oval really wants to demonstrate that “electric” doesn’t mean compromising on the truck’s capability.

The heavy towing capacity calls for a lot of torque. Luckily, that’s one thing that vehicles like 2021 Ford F-150 Electric have plenty of. Of course, this test doesn’t actually mean that the upcoming electric truck will be able to pull up such a load. But, some reports saying that future pickups will come with unbelievable towing capacity.

For example, Elon Musk claims that Tesla’s electric pickup truck will be rated at 300,000 lbs. But, the customers want to know how long the electric vehicles will be able to pull that kind of load. Therefore, we must wait and see the potential improvements and battery upgrades, to make this task possible in the long run.

Release Date and Price

The release date of 2021 Ford F-150 Electric is still unknown. But, we assume that the all-electric model will arrive shortly after the regular version. All we know that the pickup will be available at some point in 2020.

After the F-150 hits the streets, the company will release the Mustang hybrid as well. The current F-150 base model has an MSRP of around $30,000. However, the Raptor cost almost twice as expensive. Likewise, the forthcoming all-electric will ad a couple of thousand dollars to these prices.
