2021 Chevy Bolt Design

2021 Chevy Bolt Acceleration, Driving Range, and Price

In the last few years, almost every major automaker slowly fills their EV roster. All-electric vehicles like 2021 Chevy Bolt reduce the difference between low-range town cars and fully electric cars of the future. Moreover, the Tesla Model 3 and Bolt are only models that offer more than 200 miles of driving range. Besides, the price is relatively affordable for an impressive car like this.

Chevrolet’s EV offers 238 miles range, which means you don’t have to plan every step if you decide to go out of town for a couple of days. Also, this vehicle delivers outstanding cabin and amount of standard equipment. Of course, if you want even more comfort and accessories, we suggest the Premer trim level. The Bolt Premer starts at $42,800 and includes more additional features.

What Will 2021 Chevy Bolt Look Like?

One of the highlights of the electric 2021 Chevy Bolt is a tall roof and the upright-wedge like profile. Surely, by the look of these features, the new model may easily go as subcompact-crossover SUV. The exterior delivers striking colors, underlined with splashes of chrome. Moreover, black trim and a large gloss black place instead of a traditional grille add to more unique styling.

The big windshield and wide-ranging side glass make a comfortable feel with outstanding visibility in all directions. The new Chevrolet EV rides on a 102.4-inch wheelbase. Also, the wheels are pushed all the way to the corners. As a result, the stance is wider and lower a bit. The LED lighting is placed on both ends of the vehicle. In addition, higher trims include turn-signal side mirrors.

The cabin is very quiet and spacious, with a nice touch of contemporary design. The first thing you’ll notice on the “floating” dashboard is Driver Information Center. The infotainment system is controlled by a 10.2-inch touchscreen, with specific EV operations and functions. The slim-line front seats are very comfortable, although some passengers may complain about lacking lumbar support.

The rear bench offers a 60/40 split and can accommodate grows ups easily plus one kid in the middle. On top of that, if you fold the seatback, cargo capacity increases from 16.9 to impressive 56.6 cubic feet.

Equipment

The standard equipment of 2021 Chevy Bolt includes numerous power assists and amazing amount of tech goodies. You’ll get a keyless open and start, a tilt/telescoping multifunctional steering wheel, and a programmable Charge Control system. Furthermore, the list continues with Chevy MyLink Radio, Android Auto/Apple Car Play connectivity, and GM’s Teen Driver technology.

The Premium trim replaces the premium cloth with leather. Also, a heated steering wheel/front seats, auto-dimming Rear Camera Mirror, ten airbags, and heated folding mirrors are available. New Chevrolet Bold provides outstanding safety with features like blindside/lane change alert, rear park assist, and surround vision.

The customers may choose exclusive accessories from Comfort, Convenience, and Driver Confidence Packages. The top-ranking Premium model offers a unique Infotainment Package. This bundle includes Bose premium audio, wireless charging, and dual-charging-only rear USB ports. As a final point, Chevy Bolt comes with a DC Fast Charging capability and a built-in navigation system.

Engine and Acceleration

Under the hood of 2021 Chevy Bolt will be an advanced electric powertrain that combines dynamic, highly efficient AC synchronous motor with a massive 60-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The battery comes with an 8-year warranty and it is co-developed with the LG Chem. The AC synchronous motor develops 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque.

EPA city/highway fuel economy will be 128/110 MPge. Likewise, the EPA-estimated range per full charge will be 238 miles. Besides Tesla Model 3, Bolt is the only vehicle that offers more than 200 miles of range. Yeah, sure there are others, but they are much more expensive than these two. The 0-60 acceleration is 6.8 seconds.

The customers can choose a 240V home-charging setup instead of the standard 110V charging system. The 240V charger reduces the battery regeneration time to approximately nine hours. Moreover, the available DC Fast Charging system can replenish battery for an additional 90 miles in just 30 minutes.

2021 Chevy Bolt Release Date and Price

The forthcoming 2021 Chevy Bolt comes in two different trim levels: LT, and Premier. LT’s starting price will be $38,500 including destination charge. On the other hand, Premier opens at $42,800. Keep in mind that the Chevy Bolt is eligible for federal tax credits. Similar vehicles like Nissan Leaf S starts considerably lower – at $32,000.

However, Leaf S lacks equipment and can’t match the Bolt’s driving range. The same case is with the Leaf SV and the top-ranking SL, with the price range from $34,500 to $38,000. The driving reach of Nissan’s electric vehicles is 150-MPGe. The precise release date is still unknown. At the moment, the Detroit-based automaker is preparing the Volt model for production. So, after the debut of 2020 Volt, the engineering department will shift their focus to the electric Bolt EV. With that said, we expect to see the all-electric subcompact hatchback before the summer of 2020.
