New 2021 BMW X2 PHEV is on the way. This SUV will get a mid-cycle facelift, precisely three years after this model was launched. However, the Hybrid version is becoming the highlight of the X2 crossover-SUV. It is a plug-in hybrid version and it is a part of BMW’s strategy to offer up to 25 electrified models by 2023.
New X2 will arrive with improved styling and it will look closer to the X1 model. Moreover, Interior will also gain various updates. This SUV will go on sale by the end of the year and it will cost below $40k.
2021 BMW X2 PHEV Offers Stylish Look
In order to improve aerodynamics, BMW X2 PHEV will arrive with lowered suspension. This crossover-SUV will lower its ride height by 0.3 inches. Spy shots are already available and the PHEV variant won’t depart from the regular gasoline-powered X2. The front fog lights have been removed, which provides cleaner and more stylish look upfront.
LED headlights are once again offered as standard, which is excellent. The grille is slightly larger while lower grille looks wider than before. New optional equipment includes more stylish wheels. As for the regular wheels, BMW X2 PHEV rides on 17-inch alloy rims.
The battery sits beneath the rear seats, so cargo capacity has been slighty reduced. The 2021 BMW X2 PHEV provides less room, but the rest of the Interior is practically the same. This SUV comes with the 40:20:20 configuration and it provides 14.48 cubic feet of cargo room. Fold the seats down and you will get 45.56 cubic feet of cargo space.
The BMW X2 PHEV comes with a new touchscreen that will feature new iDrive infotainment system. New upholstery is just a rumour at the moment. BMW will surely provide more tech than before and that includes various driver-assistance aids. Dimensions are the same as on the outgoing model, so interior room won’t be changed at all. The standard equipment includes two-zone automatic climate control and air conditioning. The passengers can remotely control the temperature using the BMW Connected smartphone app.
2021 BMW X2 PHEV System
The forthcoming 2021 BMW X2 PHEV will use a plug-in hybrid system. The setup is similar to the X1 xDriver25e model that uses a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. This engine is producing 125 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a six-speed automatic Steptronic transmission and a 95-hp electric motor. All-wheel-drive comes as standard and total output have been rated at 220 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque.
This crossover-SUV accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 6.8 seconds. Moreover, the top speed has been rated at 121 mph. A 10.0 kWh battery sits under the rear seat and it provides 35 miles of the all-electric range. The battery can be fully charged in five hours and up to 80 percent in 3.8 hours.
