2020 Porsche Taycan Spy Shots, US Range Rating

The Stuttgart-based’s high-performance electric sedan is finally here. New 2020 Porsche Taycan comes with launch control, like most of the company’s vehicles. The activation is very simple – you just select the Sport Plus mode and simultaneously squish the accelerator and the brake pedal. Then release the brakes and you’re off to hell-of-a ride!

Moreover, the two-speed transmission shift at 50 mph and 60 mph comes soon after. The 2020 Porsche Taycan is very impressive, and it can easily take over the title of the fastest EV. The championship belt is currently in the possession of Tesla Model S Performance. However, the new Taycan is more full-grown sports sedan, something that Tesla model still need to achieve.

Exterior Design

The crown jewel version of the Taycan will offer more aggressive and cutting-edge exterior, with more bold lines and curves. Also, the acceleration is just amazing, thanks to its fantastic torque. The 2020 Porsche Taycan will be very fun to drive, although not exactly as fun as legendary 911. The new model will get new ceramic brakes, along with the suspension setup and all-wheel steering whee.

The customers probably won’t cherish the new sound enhancer, which essentially amplifies the whimper from the electric motors and send it through speakers. Also, this model will roll on large 21-inch alloy wheels.

2020 Porsche Taycan Interior

The 2020 Porsche Taycan will maintain the company’s traditional design cues. The central console consists of the two-element layout with a horizontally centered upper wing with an upright face and a slim lower wing, where the gearbox tunnel would be on a gas-powered car. The interior of the new Taycan will be very similar to the Porsche 911 as well. The highlight of this cabin is a large 16.8-inch curved display upon the steering column.

The overall design is astonishing. Around the display are touch-capacitive buttons that control stability, suspension firmness, and headlights. Furthermore, this display is very functional, providing four different preset modes, that can be easily switched through the steering wheel. The user interface will be familiar to any Porsche customer since it’s the classic five-dial layout.

The central dial includes a digital speedometer with a power meter surrounding. Two independent dial flank the central parcel, and the rest of the dials are less important information, so they can’t distract the driver. On the right side of the instrument cluster is a 10.9-inch touchscreen and on the right side of the passenger another one. Surely, we never have seen a Porsche with this amount of displays. The famous German company still resist introducing the tablet-style that is slowly taking the industry.

Specs

The upcoming 2020 Porsche Taycan will have a battery pack with a capacity of more than 90kWh, and an over-boost action that will last for 2.5 seconds. The two electric motors will be capable to produce over 700 hp combined, and more than 750 lb-ft of torque, with the over-boost switch on.

Furthermore, this enormous amount of power will set up this sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph well under 3 seconds. This result may go even down to 2.5 seconds, despite the fact that the new model will weight roughly around 5,000 pounds.

2020 Porsche Taycan Range Rating in the US

The company announced that the upcoming 2020 Porsche Taycan will have a 311 miles range, using the European NEDC cycle. But, the NEDC is far less taxing than the EPA. With the EPA, the predicted range is 234 miles, with a full charge.

So, expect that the range will be closer to 200 than 300 miles. However, if the new Taycan is going to include the two-speed transmission, that may increase the highway range a bit.
