2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid Mileage, Release Date

Recently, the famous German automaker presented the concept of a new plug-in hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show. Now, the company brings more official news regarding the new 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid crossover. You may also hear the name 55 TFSI e Quattro, but don’t get confused – that’s for the European market only. The new model brings elegant and attractive design language, with a classy and comfortable interior.

Moreover, the Q5 Hybrid adds unique safety features and technological updates. Under the hood are a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a single electric motor for propulsion. The plug-in is incredibly powerful, even more than the SQ5 model. On top of that, the company claims more than 25.9 miles of all-electric range.

2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid Design

The upcoming 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid will borrow a couple of things from the regular version. The Audi is famous for beautiful vehicles, with a distinctive style and gracious appearance. The Hybrid model won’t be an exception to that. The design language is moderate, even though we except kind of futuristic look when it comes to the plug-in models. But, the latest report from the company suggests that a facelift for the regular Q5 could happen next year.

Therefore, we assume that the hybrid will get through the makeover as well. But, we don’t count on any drastic changes. This brand is well-known for its cautious, traditional styling approach. Furthermore, the cabin may come new color options, but the overall interior layout will be practically the same as on the standard Q5.

The regular version has one of the best cabins in the class. The amount of high-quality materials and the level of details is just amazing. The central console looks very stylish and well-designed, while leather upholstery comes as a standard feature. On top of that, the front seats are nicely padded and very supportive. The front seats will have a power-adjustment setting, as well as the heated/ventilated functions.

Of course, expect the latest infotainment system, most recent hi-tech updates, and gadgets. The Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity is available as part of the standard equipment.

Safety Features

Safety is always one of the main concern for the vehicles like 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid. The regular version includes an impressive list of standard driver aids and assistances. However, the company will include some exclusive safety features for the Hybrid model.

Also, the Bavarian giant will introduce a decent amount of additional safety packages and systems. You can expect cross-traffic alert, front/rear parking assist, blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, a head-up display and much more.

Hybrid Engine

The 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a single electric motor for power. The total output of this combination is 367 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. The Q5 Hybrid accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 5.3 seconds, and the top speed is 148 mph. Really impressive numbers, don’t you think?

The Hybrid model is only 0.2 sec off the SQ5’s time. As a matter of fact, this vehicle makes 13 more hp and the same torque as the 3.0-liter turbo V6. That engine, as well all know powers the Audi SQ5. So, it’s true – the hybrid model is more powerful than the one with the S badge on it.

Furthermore, on the electric part of the equation, the company claims more than 25.9 miles of all-electric range. However, we should keep in mind that figures will probably be lower on the EPA test. The 14.1 kWh battery is beneath the trunk floor, and the standard transmission will be the 7-speed gearbox.

This transmission shifts the drive torque to the all-wheel-drive system. The maximum speed in all-electric mode is 83.9 mph. It will take approximately 2.5 hours to fully charge the Q5 Hybrid with a 400V outlet. However, with the standard 220V outlet, it takes up to 6 hours.

Driving Modes

The forthcoming 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid offers three driving modes. At the start, the vehicle automatically works in EV mode, that keeps the gas powertrain from interfering. Unless you press the pedal past a certain point, of course. Next, we have more complex Hybrid Drive Mode. This mode activated when you have route guidance. Or, if you manually choose it.

The system collects its previous knowledge of your route and plans when will operate in pure EV or in hybrid mode. For instance, this mode will save some power in the battery for surface street driving, if the route includes a lot of highway miles at the begin of the journey. So, the vehicle uses the gas unit when it’s most efficient, and the electric energy at its top efficiency in low-speed driving.

But, you’ll have to use Audi’s built-in navigation in this mode, not Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Lastly, the third mode is Battery Hold Mode. This mode provides the battery charge at the same level during the ride.

2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid Release Date and Price

The price of 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid starts around $67,500 for the US market. In Germany, the starting price is 60, 500 euros. Moreover, for the European market, the plug-in comes with a remarkable bundle of optional equipment as standard.

However, US customers will have to purchase those packages separately. The company says that the new Q5 Hybrid will be available for sale in the third quarter of this year. But, the customers in America will have to wait a little longer for the release date.
