2020 Audi e-Tron Sportback Is Ready For The Debut

The long-awaited 2020 Audi e-Tron Sportback is almost here! The SUV Coupe version will be the second member of Audi’s e-Tron roster. One of the features that will distinguish the Sportback from the regular e-Tron model is the sloping roofline.

Also, the new e-Tron comes with a redesigned bumpers and brand-new digital matrix headlights. The Sportback will be the company’s first model which will include this new feature. Furthermore, the unique styling of the electric SUV Coupe helps the vehicle to achieve a drag coefficient of 0.25cD.

The optional virtual exterior mirrors help to achieve a better drag coefficient as well. As a result, electric Sportback will be one of the best performance-oriented models in the class.

The 2020 e-Tron Sportback delivers a more dynamic profile. The change will affect the headroom, which will be reduced by approximately 0.7 inches (20mm) in the second row. Also, the boot size is reduced a bit as well, from 655 liters to 615 liters. The forthcoming electric SUV Coupe will be available in two versions.

The base model is dubbed 50 Quattro. and brings a combined 308 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque from two electric motors. These motors use a 71 kWh battery pack. The driving range of the base 2020 Audi e-Tron Sportback is 215 miles (347 km) on the WLTP cycle, The second member of the e-Tron family sprints from 0-60 mph (100 km/h) in 6.8 seconds, with the top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h).

Audi e-Tron Sportback 55 Quattro

The upper trim level of 2020 Audi e-Tron is called 55 Quattro. The range-topping version provides more power, and a bigger battery as well. The two motors are available, for the combined output of 355 hp and 414 lb-ft of torque. But, in the boost mode, the motors can produce up to 402 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque for eight seconds period.

The 55 Quattro accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, with the tops speed at 124 mph (200 km/h). The available battery has a 95 kWh capacity, which is good for a driving range of 277 miles (445 km) on the WLTP cycle.

Charging

In most driving conditions, 2020 Audi e-Tron Sportback will use only the rear electric motor, which allows a better efficiency of the vehicle. The front motor will be activated only when the driver needs more power. As for the charging, the customers will be able to quickly charge the Sportback 55 Quattro at up to 150 kW at fast-charging stations.

In other words, 80% of the battery capacity can be charged for approximately half an hour. On the other hand, the base 50 Quattro charges at up to 120 kW stations. Furthermore, an adaptive suspension comes as part of standard equipment, besides the company’s drive select system with seven available profiles. Also, the air suspension can change the ride height up to 3 inches (76mm).

2020 Audi e-Tron Sportback Release Date and Price

For European customers, 2020 Audi e-Tron Sportback will be available in a month, or two. However, the customers in the United States will have to wait a bit longer, probably until the summer. The starting price of the second e-Tron will be 71,350€ (approximately $77,300).

Moreover, the German automaker will offer a special, limited-edition, named ‘Edition One’. This exclusive edition features Plasma Blue color, the door cameras, the S line exterior treatment, 21-inch wheels, panoramic sunroof, orange brake caliper, and much more.
